By improving its range, Airbus is rethinking the way a Jet is designed. A new cabin interior and new technical features will be incorporated into the aircraft. It will be considered as a reference for private long-distance travel.
Airbus has once again expanded its range by creating a new segment: the extra Large Bizjet, in the business aviation sector.
Based on the A220-100 model, the newcomer to the Airbus family is shaking up the market. Three additional cabins, latest-generation materials and advanced technologies. This new ACJ 220 has succeeded in creating a new market segment, the “Xtra Large BizJet”. Airbus has met its challenge: a more spacious aircraft with an operating cost that is one-third lower than average.
It will feature a total of 73 square meters of space in six separate cabins, capable of carrying up to 18 passengers. According to Airbus, it is the quietest, cleanest and most environmentally friendly aircraft of its category.
Compared to the previous generation aircraft, the noise footprint is reduced by 50% and fuel consumption by 25%. It will be to fligh 10,500km in 12 consecutive hours, making it possible to fly from London to Los Angeles, Tokyo to Dubai or Beijing to Melbourne.
A luxurious interior designed by Sylvain Mariat, Director of the creative design section at the aircraft manufacturer. The cabin layout was ordered by Comlux, which has its own ACJ-approved finishing center in Indianapolis, USA. It was selected as exclusive partner and will equip the first 15 cabins of the latest aircraft in the ACJ program.
The future with Covid19
During this period, diversifying its range is a risky challenge for Airbus, but despite the crisis and the general market slowdown, other segments like this one are responding to current customer needs. Airbus has already booked 6 orders for this model, which combines comfort, silence and ecology.
