Big Data, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, so many innovative and disruptive technologies that transform the organization of the industrial sector and establish it in the visionary concept of Industry 4.0.
With the advent of the smart factory, digitalization is taking place at every level of the industrialization chain. What technologies have been implemented ? What changes are they bringing about ?
The industry as a whole has entered a phase of profound change, with digital technologies becoming an integral part of industrial processes. Today, it has been estimated that 67% of companies in the industrial sector have already implemented smart factory initiatives. The aerospace and defense sector, which accounts for two-thirds of these companies, is expected to be the leader in this digital transition.
The 7 innovations serving the process of digitalization of cutting-edge industries :
It is estimated that the industrial sector invests up to 1 billion € per year in these new technologies of digitalization of processes and expects a return on investment in less than 2 years.
The implementation of these digital innovations in industrial processes:
All these technologies and the digitalization of data can be found throughout the industrial process. From engineering (digital mock-up design, augmented reality, 3D printing…), to production with the integration of automata, robotics… and even beyond in the life process of products or services (traceability sensors, predictive maintenance, big data…).
According to PwC’s « Industry 4.0 – Global Digital Operations Survey », a large proportion of global industrial companies have already implemented some of these new technologies, such as predictive maintenance (48%), manufacturing execution systems or MES (45%), integrated planning (44%) or IoT (42%).
In Europe, France is the leader in artificial intelligence with an implementation rate of 7% compared to 5% in Europe and 9% worldwide.
Today, global investments in the transformation of smart factories are estimated at nearly $400 billions over the next five years.
